No Doubt

Happy Now

by No Doubt
No Doubt

Biography:

Formed in 1986 in Anaheim, California, United States as a ska punk band inspired by Madness, the lineup of No Doubt initially comprised John Spence as lead vocal, Gwen Stefani on back-up vocals, and her brother Eric Stefani on keyboards. While playing the party-band circuit around Anaheim, the trio picked up bassist Tony Kanal. Hardened by the suicide of Spence in December 1987, No Doubt nevertheless continued; Gwen became the lone vocalist and the group added guitarist Tom Dumont and drummer Adrian Young.

Intro: Fig 1. 2x

Verse 1 (Am Dm F 2x):
You had the best, but you gave her up
'Cause dependency might interrupt
Idealistic will be so hard to please,
Put your indecisive mind at ease
Am
You broke the set, now there's only singles

There's no lookin back this time I meant it

Chorus (C B G# F 2x):
Are you happy now? How is it now?
Are you happy now? How is it now?

Fig 1. 1x

Verse 2 (Am Dm F 2x + Am Dm):
The uncertainty you had of me, brought clouded shady company
The tenderness habitual, a seldom-fading ritual

You killed the pair, now oly one is breathing
There's no looking back, this time I meant it

Chorus (C B G# F 2x):
Are you happy now? How is it now?
Are you happy now? How is it now?
Fig. 2 (2x)
Are you happy now? How is it now?
Are you happy now?

Interlude (Dm B 2x; Em C 2x):
No more leaning on your shoulder
I won't be there no more bother

If you feel you might just want me
That's too bad, I'm not that easy

Solo: Fig 3. + Fig 4.

Verse 3 (Am Dm F x):
The contemplator all those years
Now you must adhere to your new career of liberation
You've been cast all by yourself
You're free at last
You broke the set Now there's only singles
There's no looking back, this time I mean it

Chorus (C B G# F x + Fig. 2 2x)

Outro (Fig. 3 + Fig. 5):
You're by yourself, all by yourself
You have no one else, you're by yourself
All by yourself (4x)
No one else, no one else
By yourself, by yourself......
