Nick Drake

Things Behind The Sun

by Nick Drake
Nick Drake

Biography:

Nick Drake (Nicholas Rodney Drake, Rangoon, Burma, June 19, 1948 - Tanworth-in-Arden, England, November 25, 1974) was an English folk singer known for his gentle, enigmatic songs and his virtuosic right-hand finger picking technique.

Although he recorded only three albums, critics and fellow musicians hold his work in very high esteem. Drake failed to find a wide audience during his lifetime and had a strong aversion to performing. Since his death, however, Drake's music has gained a significant cult following.

CAPO: 4th fret (Will then sound in the recorded key of C#m)

The chords are intended to be fingerpicked, in some of the shapes the
high E string is not played. Emphasise the bass notes. The G11/F shape
is not recognised by UG's software at present so won't be changed if
you use the transpose function. As the original key is C#m you do have
quite a choice of lower keys by dropping the capo down in half-steps
to suit your own voice if required.

Please IGNORE the pop-up chord boxes and use the typed shapes below:

Chord names and fret positions are relative to the capo:
Asus2 = x02200 E7sus4 = 020200 D/A = x0423x
Am = x02210 E7 = 020100 C/G = 33201x
E = 022100 A = x02220 Cmaj7/G = 33200x
G11/F = 13000x A4 = x02230 D7/F# = 20021x
D6/F# = 20020x

Please, beware of them that stare,
E G11/F E7sus4 E7
They'll only smile to see you while your time away, | / / / / |

[Verse 2]

Look around, you find the ground is not so far from where you are,
