My Epic

Memoir

by My Epic
My Epic

Biography:

[From myepic.net]
The story that is My Epic has been in the works for several years. The whole process started in 1998 when Aaron, Jesse, and Matt first started playing together in what quickly became their first band, The Right Wing Conspiracy, later known as Shaddai. Through their experiences together, the five boys in Shaddai grew as musicians and as a band, and by the summer of 2004, after playing shows ranging from their home town of Fredericksburg

[Intro]

Em C Em C D

[Verse]

Em D
I was hopeless, chained to vice after vice
Am C Em C Em C D
and I defied you until I prayed you would just let me die.
Em D
I was finished and slept in grave after grave
Am C
and waited buried, but the end I deserved never came.

[Chorus]

Em C
The wrath that I was owed
C D
poured on your blameless son,
Em G
for every song I’ve sung
G Am
still it seems senseless.
Em C
The righteousness He owned,
C D
free to us wicked ones.
Em G
I fit it in my lungs but
G Am
it leaves me breathless.

[Verse 2]

Em D
You were fearless, and took my shame upon shame
Am C
and as I yielded you were crushed by the weight.
Em D
But It was finished when by grace upon grace
Am C
hell was silenced as you stepped out from your grave.

[Chorus]

Em C
The wrath that I was owed
C D
poured on your blameless son,
Em G
for every song I’ve sung
G Am
still it seems senseless.
Em C
The righteousness He owned,
C D
free to us wicked ones.
Em G
I fit it in my lungs but
G Am
it leaves me breathless.

Em C Em C D

[Bridge]

Em
Since the first time you spoke it,
D
I've been winded and gasping for air.
Am
I can barely repeat it.
C
I believe but I don’t understand
Em
how for all of the violence
D
and rebellion that heaves in my chest,
Am
You could call me forgiven,
C
and restore every last wasted breath.

[Outro]

Em
Hell go on and rage,
D
whatever you may say
Am
my G-d, He speaks for me
C
and I'll not be ashamed.
Em
Hell go on and rage,
D
you can't change a thing.
Am
My G-d, You speak for me
C
so I'll not be ashamed.
