Montgomery Gentry

Some People Change

by Montgomery Gentry
Montgomery Gentry

Biography:

Montgomery Gentry was a country music duo, founded in the 1990s, consisting of Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry. Eddie Montgomery is the older brother of John Michael Montgomery. Some sources say that Troy Gentry is the son of Bobbie Gentry, which is untrue. Troy's parents are Lloyd and Pat Gentry. Eddie, Troy, and John were in a band called Early Tymz. Eddie and Troy continued to perform after John left to pursue a solo career. The duo went through several name changes before they decided to call themselves Montgomery Gentry.

Some People Change

[Intro]
D G D G

[Verse 1]
D G
His old man was a rebel yeller, bad boy to the bone, he'd say,
D G D G
Can't trust that other feller, he'd judge em by the tone of their skin,
D G
He was raised to think like his dad, narrow mind and full of hate,
D G A
On the road to nowhere fast, till the grace of God got in the way,

[Pre-Chorus]
G D
Then he saw the light, and hit his knees and cried and said a prayer
A G
Rose up a brand new man, left the old one right there,

[Chorus]
D A G
Here's to the strong thanks to the brave,
Bm G D
Don't give up hope, some people change,
A G
Against all odds, against the grain,
Bm G D G
Love finds a way, some people change,

[Verse 2]
D G
She was born with her mothers habit, you could say it's in her blood,
D G
She hates that she's gotta have it, as she feels her glass up,
D G
She'd love to kill that bottle, but all she could think about is a,
D G
Better life a second chance, and everyone she's letting down,
G
She throws that bottle down,

[Chorus]
D A G
Here's to the strong thanks to the brave,
Bm G D
Don't give up hope, some people change,
A G
Against all odds, against the grain,
Bm G D/F# G
Love finds a way, some people change,

[Bridge]
G D/F# G
Thank God for those who make it,
A D A G Bm G D
Let them be the light, let them be the light, some people change,

[Chorus]
D A G
Here's to the strong thanks to the brave,
Bm G D
Don't give up hope, some people change,
A G
Against all odds, against the grain,
Bm G D A G Bm
Love finds a way, some people change,
