Song Title: Shark Fin Blues
Artist: Written by The Drones, though this particular tab is as performed by Missy Higgins.
Tabbed by: Kate

This is a gorgeous song originally done by a truly brilliant Australian band, The Drones.
The version of this song on which this tab is based is Missy Higgin's cover version from
her forthcoming
album, Oz, a collection of spectacular songs by extraordinary Australian artists.
Missy's version is a bit more polished than the rugged original and taken up a bit in key.
I played along with my capo on the first fret using these chords and it sounded perfect.
Listen to you original if you didn't do, though I think Missy did beautifully making
this song her own,
both versions are utterly priceless.

Capo on 1st Fret

A Em
Standing on the deck I watch my shadow stretch
G D
The sun pours my shadow upon the deck
A Em
The waters licking round my ankles now
G D
Well, there ain't no sun shine way way down

A Em
I see the sharks in the water like slicks of ink
G D
well, there's one there bigger than a submarine
A Em
and as he circles, I look in his eyes
G D
I see Jonah in his belly by the camp fire light

A Em
See the albatross up in the windy loft
G D
Gets to beating his wings while he sleeps it off
A Em
I hear the jettisoned cries from his dream unkind
G D
Get to whipping my ears like a riding crop

A Em
Well, the captain once as able as a fink dandy
G D
Is now laid up in the galley like a dried out mink
A Em
He's laying dying of thirst and he says or I think
G D
"We're gonna be alone from here on in"

Em
Well you're all my brothers
D
And you have been kind
Em D
But what were you expecting to find?
Em
Now your eyes turn inwards
Bm
And your countenance turns blank
C
And I'm floating away on a barrel of pain
E
It looks like nothing but the sea and sky remains...

A Em
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah
G D
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah

A Em
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah
G D
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah

A Em
A harpoon's shaft is short and wide
G D
A grappling hook is cracked and dry
A Em
I said, why don't you get down in the sea
G D
Turn the water red like you wanna be?

A Em
Cos if I cry another tear I'll be turned to dust
G D
The sharks won't get me, but they don't feel loss
A Em
Keep one eye on the horizon, man, you best not blink!
G D
They're coming fin by fin until the whole boat sinks!

A Em
Fin by fin
(Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah)
G D
Fin by fin by fin by fin
(Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah)
A Em
Fin by fin
(Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah)
G D
Fin by fin by fin by fin
(Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah)

Outro
A Em
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah
G D
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah

A Em
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah
G D
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah

A Em
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah
G D
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah

A Em
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah
G D
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah

D
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah

Enjoy! :)
