Biography:

Midlake is an American rock band from Denton, Texas, that formed in 1999. The band first gained popularity in Europe.

Midlake began in 1999 by a group of jazz students at the University of North Texas. The original lineup consisted of Tim Smith (vocals, guitars, keyboards), McKenzie Smith (drums), Paul Alexander (bass), Eric Nichelson (guitar), and Evan Jacobs (keyboards). Capo 4th fret

Em D C Bm (x3)

Em C D (x2)

Em C
I will wear the sun,
D
Ancient light through these woods
Em
Woods that I walk through alone

C
I will take my rest
D
With all creatures who dwell
Em
Under the smallest of green

C
I'll remain no more
D
than is required of me
Em
Until the spirit is gone

C
I will long to see
D
all that waits to be known
Em
And all that will never be known

D
Into the core of nature,
C Bm
No earthly mind can enter,
Em D
But I will wear the sun,
C
Bound to others,
Bm
We've seen many things

Em D C Bm

Em C
I will train my feet
D
to go on with a joy
Em
A joy I have yet to reach

C
I will let the sound
D
of these woods that I've known
Em
Sink into blood and to bone

C
I'll remain no more
D
than is required of me
Em
Until the spirit is gone

C
I will long to see
D
all that waits to be known
Em
And all that will never be known

D
Into the core of nature,
C Bm
No earthly mind can enter,
Em D
But I will wear the sun,
C
Bound to others,
Bm
We see many things

Em D C Bm

Em C D
Em C D

Em C
I will wear the sun,
D
Ancient light through these woods
Em
Woods that I walk through alone

C
I will long to see
D
all that waits to be known
Em C D
And all that will never be known
Em C D
All that will never be known (x4)
