Mark-Almond

Biography:

Mark–Almond were an English band of the late 1960s and early 1970s, who worked in the territory between rock and jazz. In 1970 Jon Mark and Johnny Almond formed Mark-Almond (also occasionally referred to as The Mark-Almond Band). The melancholy tones of saxophonist Almond were an integral part of the group's sound, and Almond frequently played flutes as well, including the rarely-heard bass flute. Mark-almond - Just A Friend - Other Peoples Rooms

John Mark and Mark Almond were great session musicians in the 60's and early 70's. Working with the likes of
The Rolling Stones, Marianne Faithful and John Mayall. Their song "The City" is a widely covered piece as is
New York State Of Mind a hit for Billy Joel. Truly one of the most underrated bands of all time..

You can use the (G chord) either standard or x05433 and the D/D5 is just a matter of picking to add to to the
sound that is produced by a second guitar or orchestra. I realize that it is slightly off on a couple of
places but they are orchestrated areas. For any live performance this should suffice.

[Verse 1]

Bm F#m G C
I see her every day but she turns her face away
Bm F#m G
Her eyes tell me the pain in her heart
Em F#m7
Why I ask myself again
Bm Bm7 Bm D D5 Em
"Does she stay with the man who brings her pain?"
F#m7 Bm
But she forgives him just the same

Bm Em F#7

[Verse 2]

Bm F#m G C
When she cries she comes to me as a friend, just a friend
Bm F#m G
And I know she loves me as a friend
Em F#7 Bm Bm7 Bm D Dsus4 D5 Em
But if she could know the pain I feel when she goes to him again
F#m7 Bm
The memory still remains

Bm Em F#7

[Verse 3]

Bm F#m G C
He will greet me with a smile as he does everyday
Bm F#m G
Questions crying in his eyes I turn away
Em F#7 Bm B7 Em
But comes the night refrain I'll be with her again
F#7 Bm F#7
Even though I'm just a friend

Bm Em F#7

[Outro]

Em F#m7 Bm B7 Em
But comes the night refrain I'll be with you again
F#m7 Bm F#7 Em F#m7
Even though I'm just a friend, just a friend

Bm F#m G F#m7 Bm
