Machineheart

Overgrown

by Machineheart
Machineheart

Biography:

Indie pop band machineheart were formed in 2014 by guitarist Carman Kubanda, bassist Jake Randle, and drummer Harrison Allen -- a group of friends from Tacoma, Washington -- along with Stevie Scott, an Anglophile singer from Los Angeles. Popular covers of Katy Perry and the 1975 helped them gain blog exposure (they even contributed a song to MTV's Scream television series), but it was not until the shimmery single "Circles" was released that the band received more serious buzz

NO CAPO

[Intro]
Dm C G
Dm C G

[Verse 1]
Dm C
Someone crying in the dead of the night
G
Was it me or was it just in my mind
Dm C
Reaching deep into the soil I find
G
I'm stirring awake a fury

[Verse 2]
Dm C
Maybe I'm the only one who survived
G
Crawled out of the dark and into the light
Dm C
As I turn my face and look to the sky
G
A tear in my eye is forming

[Pre-Chorus]
Dm
Shaking off all those heavy chains
Bb C Dm
Now I will find my own way

[Chorus]
Dm C G
Turning the ground underneath me to show what I am
Dm C G
Pushing and breaking my way from the hand of the man
Dm C G
Nothing to fear being here, now that I'm overgrown
Bb C G
Overgrown
Bb C G
Overgrown

[Instrumental]

[Verse 3]
Dm
When they try to lay me low
C G
Down into the dirt I go, but don't fight it
Dm
They were just giving me
C G
The very thing I would need

[Verse 4]
Dm C
Try to tell me what I can and cannot do
G
Who to be and do not be, it'll drive me to the brink
Dm C
Any dead ended road
G
One step closer to home

[Pre-Chorus]
Dm
Shaking off all those heavy chains
Bb C Dm
Now I will find my own way

[Chorus]
