The Last Rebel by Lynyrd Skynyrd
form the recording The Last Rebel

(Gary Rossington, Johnny Van-Zant, Robert Johnson, Michael Lunn)

Chords:

Am C/D C G F
-----0-----0-----0-----3-----1----
-----1-----3-----1-----0-----1----
-----2-----0-----0-----0-----2----
-----2-----4-----2-----0-----3----
-----0-----5-----3-----2-----3----
-----------------------3-----1----

The "C/D" chord is of C major form at the fifth fret - where the fifth string
is a "D", hence my naming. I couldn't find a name for this chord, but it
does work.

Am C/D
There's a grey horse standin' still

C C/D Am F G
As a soldier climbs in the saddle for one last ride

Am C/D
As the rain pours off his hat

C C/D Am C C/D
You can see the shadows of the past written in his eyes

Am G C
Now the cannons are silent

Am G C
His friends are all gone

Am G C
Gotta put it all behind him

Am G F
If he ever wants to find his way home

G Am C/D F G
He's the last rebel on the road

Am C/D
Just a boy with his old guitar

C C/D Am
Keeps to himself but everybody takes him wrong

F G
But he carries on

Am C/D
Got a dream that will never die

C C/D Am C C/D
Can't change him, no use in stayin' where you don't belong

Am G C
Now he's rollin' down the highway

Am G C
Gone too far too fast

Am G C Am G C Am x 2
No one will ever find him, he'll never look back

(chorus)
F
'Cause he's the last rebel

G
And he's all alone

F
He's the last rebel

G
His friends are all gone

F
He's the last rebel

G Am
The last rebel on the road

F G
There'll never be another like him

F G
He's the last of a dying breed

F G
Ain't no use in tryin' to tame him

G
'Cause he's the last rebel

Am G C
And he's all alone

Am G C
He's the last rebel

Am G C
His friends are all gone

Am G C
He's the last rebel

Music keeps going alternating between the Am G C progression and the F G
progression.

Johnny throughs some "ohhhoo ohhhhs" in there over these progressions.
Listen to the song...
