Luke Stricklin

Coast Of Mexico

by Luke Stricklin
Luke Stricklin

Biography:

For a young man, Luke Stricklin has seen quite a lot. A small town kid from Arkansas who gave 12 months to the streets of Baghdad, Stricklin has lived a lifetime in just under 23 years. And that dichotomy is one of several that not only defines an emerging country artist, but infuses his debut album with unexpected meaning.

The story of "American By God's Amazing Grace" has been told on news outlets ranging from CNN and Fox News to Newsweek and The Today Show.

it was fort worth a year ago, headin down to the coast
C#m D
change of clothes in a walmart sack, worm gulf breeze upon our back
A E
it was a far cry from colorado, when i look out my window
C#m D
theres nothin out there but wind and snow, but in my mind i see the coast
A
of mexico

[Verse]
A E
we were down there by the ocean, i can still smell that sun tan lotion
C#m D

A E
and as we lay there on the blanket, i remeber thinkin

A E

C#m D
looks like ill have all night, to try and forget

[Chorus]
A E
it was fort worth a year ago, headin down to the coast
C#m D
change of clothes in a walmart sack, worm gulf breeze upon our back
A E
it was a far cry from colorado, when i look out my window
C#m D
theres nothin out there but wind and snow, but in my mind i see the coast
A
of mexico
