Lou Reed

Ooh Baby

by Lou Reed
Lou Reed

Biography:

Lou Reed (March 2, 1942 - October 27, 2013) was an American rock artist originally from Brooklyn, New York, USA. Especially while a member of the The Velvet Underground in the 1960s, Reed broke new ground for the rock genre in several important dimensions, introducing more mature and intellectual themes to what was then considered a largely simplistic genre of music.

In 1964 Reed moved to New York City and began working as an in-house songwriter for Pickwick Records.

Verse 1
E7 A7 E7
You're the kind of girl that everybody's wonderin' about
E7 A7 E7
Yeah, you're the kind of person that everybody is staring at
A7 E7
But now you are a topless dancer working out of a bar in Times Square
A7 E7
And everybody wishes you were back in the massage parlor back there, over there

Chorus
E7 A7 E7
You make me go Ooh baby ooh baby ooh baby ooh ooh ooh
E7 A7 E7
Ooh baby ooh baby ooh baby ooh ooh ooh

Bass solo

Verse 2
E7 A7 E7
Your old man was the best B&E man down on the streets
E7 A7 E7
And all the guys on the precinct always was watching for him on their beats
A7 E7
But when he ripped off Seymour, he was really not doing so fine
A7 E7
And everything is nice, well except his hands and legs and maybe even mine

Ooh baby ooh baby ooh baby ooh ooh ooh
E7 A7 E7
Ooh baby ooh baby ooh hey baby ooh ooh ooh

Verse 3 )
E7 A7 E7
It's very funny asking me why they keep the lights on down so low
E7 A7 E7
Well, yesterday’s trick’s today's competition or didn't you know
A7 E7
And, oh, fluorescent lighting makes it so your wrinkles – they don't show
A7 E7
And it's very funny the way that 20 bucks an hour can go if you don't make me go now

Chorus
E7 A7 E7
Ooh baby ooh baby ooh baby ooh ooh ooh
E7 A7 E7
Ooh baby ooh baby ooh hey baby ooh ooh ooh

Solo

You got here from Ohio and your mother said you took it in the rear.
That's where it goes now
