[Intro]
C F D G7

[Verse 1]
C F
I, I'll take the quiet
D
I'll take the winter
G7
Oh, I'll take the cold

[Verse 2]
C F
And I, I'll take the forests
D
I'll take the rivers
G7
Oh, I'll take the fields

[Chorus 1]
Am F
It's coming up through the water
Am F
How it got down there well, hell, I'll never know
Am F
Well you better stake your corner
Am F F/E
Choose your colours carefully as you well know
D7 G7
For at the end it's all, it's all, it's all I know

[Verse 3]
C F
Oh, oh my skin is thin now
D
And I can't hold you
G7
Within these paper hands
G7
Well I'm much too weak to stand

[Verse 4]
C F
And how, how the light gets in now
D
Open the window
G7
While I feel it upon my pasty brow

[Chorus 1]
Am F
It's coming up through the water
Am F
How it got down there well, hell, I'll never know
Am F
Well you better stake your corner
Am F F/E
And choose your colours carefully as you well know
D7 G7
For at the end it's all, it's all, it's all I know

[Verse 5]

So what, what have I left here?
D
What have I built here

To stand up when I'm gone?

[Chorus 2]

Oh no, not long now

It’s coming up through the water
Am F
And how it got down there well, hell, I'll never know
