With my high starched collar and my high topped shoes

E7 A D9 A
And my hair piled high upon her head

Edim Bm7 E A C#m
I went to lose a jolly hour on the trolley

Cdim B7 Bm7-5 E7
And I lost my heart instead

With his light brown derby and his bright green tie

He was quite the handsomest of men

When the universe reels

The smell of honeysuckle charmed you off your feet

You thought you'd sing but couldn't squeek -

C#m7-5 D Cdim Bm7-5 Edim E7
In fact you loved him so you couldn't even speak

As he started to leave I took hold of his sleeve with my hand

And it was grand just to stand with his hand holding mine
