[Verse]
G
I know you're not mine, only borrowed
Am Em
'Cause you already belong to her, at least you said so
G
But I'm starting to believe it ain't the whole truth
Am Em
As we're lying side by side, I get the whole you

[Chorus]
D
I wanna hold out, but gotta hold on, even though I know it's wrong
G Em
'Cause I don't want to give you back, I don't want to give you back
D C
You're the best I'll never have, so I don't want to give you back
G
But you're borrowed

G
Do you tell her that you love her, like you do me?
Am Em
Do you make love to her, the way you make love to me?
G
Well, I keep myself alone in case you call tonight
Am Em
It's pa- thetic how I lie around and wait all the damn time

[Chorus]
D
It's a short hide and long low, every time you have to go
G Em
'Cause I don't want to give you back, I don't want to give you back
D C
You're the best I'll never have, so I don't want to give you back
G
But you're borrowed

Am G D
How much time is left, you don't re- turn, don't re- turn?
Am G D Am
How much time, oh, it's left you don't re- turn, no re- turn, how much time?

[Tag]
G
I know you're not mine, only borrowed
Em
And I don't want to give you back, I don't want to give you back
D C
You're the best I'll never have, so I don't want to give you back
G Em
No, I don't want to give you back, no, I don't want to give you back
D C
You're the best I'll never have, so I don't want to give you back
G
But you're borrowed, only borrowed, 'cause you're borrowed -----
