Leadbelly

Good Morning Blues

by Leadbelly
Leadbelly

Biography:

Huddie Ledbetter (January 20, 1888 - December 6, 1949) was an iconic American folk and blues musician, and multi-instrumentalist, notable for his strong vocals, his virtuosity on the twelve-string guitar, and the songbook of folk standards he introduced.

Although Lead Belly most commonly played the twelve-string, he could also play the piano, mandolin, harmonica, violin, and accordion. In some of his recordings, such as in one of his versions of the folk ballad "John Hardy", he performs on the accordion instead of the guitar.

This is for a standard tuned six string guitar, so it's not
exact with Leadbellys' dropped tuned twelve string.
But it's a good approxamation.
Also, have included the correct lyrics for the
Take This Hammer album version

Now, This is the blues, Never was a white man had the blues
'Cause they's nothing to worry about
Now, You lay down at night, You roll from one side of the bed to the other
All night long, Ya can't sleep, Whats the matter, The blues has gotcha
Ya get up you sit on the side of your bed in the mornin'
May have a sister n brother, n a mother n father around
But you don't want no talk out of 'em
What's the matter, The blues has gotcha
When you go in put your feet under the table look down in your plate
got everything you wanna eat, But ya shake ya head
'An you get up you say, Lord I can't eat'n, I can't sleep
What's the matter, Blues gotcha, Wanna talk to ya
Tell what you gotta tell 'em

Good morning blues, Blues how do you do
Good morning blues, Blues how do you do
I'm doing all right, Good morning, How are you

I lay down last night, Turning from side to side
Aaah, Turning from side to side
I was not sick, But I was just dissatisfied

When I was up this mornin', With these blues walking 'round my bed
Aaah, With these, Blues walking 'round my bed
I went to eat my breakfast, Blues was all in my bread

Good morning blues, Blues how do you do
Aaah, Blues how do you do
I'm doing all right, Good morning, How are you

You're a brownskin woman you'd make a, A moonlight man go blind
Aaaah, She could make'a, A moonlight man go blind
And it's just not gonna, A make you'a take your time

Good morning blues, Blues how do you do
Aaah, Blues how do you do
I'm doing all right, Good morning, How are you
