C
Sometimes I don't recognize
sometimes I don't recognize
F
the house I live in, or the
G
street that my house is on

C
Sometimes I don't recognize
sometimes I don't recognize
F
the patterns on my shirt or
G
the way my shoes are tied

F G
We know the way things go down
C Am
we know a lot of people
F G
For people in a small town
C Am
we know a lot of people
F G C
We know the way things go down

C
Sometimes I don't recognize,
that leads me to be surprised
F
on my way home I'm walkin'
G
home for the first time

C
Sometimes I don't sympathize
with all the sick and the tired,
F
what's in it: being a bum?
G
What's in it: being admired?

F G
Some street go up, some go down
C Am
and it's just too much trouble
F G
We know the smells and the sounds
C Am
we know a lot of people
F G C
We know the way things go down

F
Well, I can fight like the devil
G
or do what I'm told,
C
but one of these days, momma,
Am
I've got to hit the road
F G
on my way home

C
Sometimes I don't recognize
sometimes I don't recognize
F
the house I live in, or the
G
street that my house is on

C
Sometimes I don't recognize,
that leads me to be surprised

on my way home I'm walkin'
G
home for the first time

F G
Some street go up, some go down
C Am
and it's just too much trouble
F G
For people in a small town
C Am
we pass a lot of people
F G C
We know the way things go down

F
Well, I can fight like the devil
G
or do what I'm told,

but one of these days, momma,
Am
I've got to hit the road

C
I'm comin home
I'm walkin home, uh huh
that's where I'm goin....
