King Krule

Cementality

by King Krule
King Krule

Biography:

Named after the Elvis Presley film King Creole, King Krule is a solo project of Archy Marshall (born 24 August 1994), a London-based artist who has been compared to Joe Strummer and Billy Bragg. The singer, songwriter, guitarist, and keyboardist raised eyebrows with the 2010 single "Out Getting Ribs," released under the alias Zoo Kid, which showcased his distinctively raw voice. Anticipation for Marshall's first album grew, as the song earned him a spot on various high-profile "artists to watch" lists

Note: It sounds more like the song if you play tabbed notes rather
than full chords.

[Verse 1]

C#m Dm
See the cement has never meant so much
Dm/G# Am
My hot head cools to the stone cold touch
Em7 Fmaj7
I look to settle my seed with the dust
Dm Dm/G#
Brain, leave me be, can't you see that these eyes are shut?

[Verse 2]

C#m Dm
Enter my bed through that window
Dm/G# Am
I hit zero As guiltless loveless sins flow
Em7 Fmaj7
Through me, you threw me
Dm Dm/G#
I descend smoothly

[Verse 3]

C#m Dm
My concrete bed beckons. Can you hear me?
Dm/G# Am
I was born in seconds Do you fear the
Em7 Fmaj7 Dm Dm/G#
Way you steer me Towards the ground?

[Verse 4]

C#m Dm
No, no, no I was never scared
Dm/G# Am
Pain, had made my vision impaired
Em7 Fmaj7
But now I'm free of care
Dm Dm/G#
See, life isn't fair, then at least death's there

[Verse 5]

C#m Dm
To hold both hands And stroll through lands
Dm/G# Am
And as it stands The empty vessel of a man
Em7 Fmaj7
Can't be moved
Dm Dm/G#
It's not the cracks or the grooves But the pavement soothes

[Bridge]

C#m Dm
The pavement was soothing
Dm/G# Am
My body wasn't moving
Em7 Fmaj7
Brain was buried deep beneath the ground
Dm Dm/G#
Fears would drown

C#m Dm
The pavement is soothing
Dm/G# Am
My body wasn't moving
Em7 Fmaj7
Pain was buried deep beneath the ground
Dm Dm/G#
As fears would drown

[Verse 6]

C#m Dm
See the cement has never meant so much
Dm/G# Am
My hot head cools to the stone cold touch
Em7 Fmaj7
I look to settle my seed with the dust
Dm Dm/G#
Brain, leave me be, can't you see that these eyes are shut?
