Josh Joplin

Arms To Hold Me

by Josh Joplin
Josh Joplin

Biography:

Josh Joplin Group was an American Georgia-based pop music band led by singer-songwriter Josh Joplin. Joplin, a self-proclaimed "dork" who nonetheless dropped out of school in tenth grade to become a folk singer like his hero Phil Ochs, brought the group its trademark combination of introspective lyrics, folk-rock melodies, and lead vocals that, to many, sound identical to those of R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe (to the point that one Joplin song, "Happy at Last," begins, "I sound like Michael Stipe and I dream like Carl Jung").

Josh Joplin - Arms To Hold Me

[Chorus]
G D
I'm not only fading slowly
Am C
Running out of arms to hold me
G D
Close___

[Verse 1]
C G
The days of fallen leaves are almost done
C G
The trees have changed their stories more than once
D C
The months are measured by their daylight
D C
Seasons give up without a fight

[Chorus]
G D
I'm not only fading slowly
Am C
Running out of arms to hold me
G D
Close___

[Verse 2]
C G
The stars don't show themselves here much at night
C G
So we wish upon the office building lights
D C
Downtown dreams don't always come true
D C
Cathy, I don't think it's just you

[Chorus]
G D
I'm not only fading slowly
Am C
Running out of arms to hold me
G D
Close___

[Verse 3]
C G
And death has kept its promise once again
C G
We're left behind to do the best we can
D C
To make sense of this strange endeavour
D C
When we go, we're gone forever

[Chorus]
G D
I'm not only fading slowly
Am C
Running out of arms to hold me
G D
Close___

[Outro] (6x)
Am
Dum dum dum dum
G
Dum dum dum dum dum
