Johnny Hobo And The Freight Trains

Biography:

Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains were a nihilistic folk-punk band from southern Vermont. They didn't hop freight trains. They did like to drink forties by the train tracks where the police wouldn't bother them. Most shows were a solo acoustic performance, but the full band at various times included Flash-C (trumpet), Ian Skumfuck (washtub bass), Jeff-face (harmonica), Roman (bicycle), Michael Jordan (drums), & Wyatt (harmonica).

The last show was in 2007.

Tonight I bury Old William without remorse

Because Hell sleeps around and Heaven wants a divorce

Tonight I burn my bookshelf to be free
E5 C#5 F#5 A5
Because even a rebel tradition is slavery
E5 F#5 C#5 A5
Tonight I bake my madness a birthday cake
E5 F#5 C#5 A5
Because even the insomniacs aren't awake
E5 F#5 C#5 A5
Tonight I burn my home while they ??? ??? ???
E5 F#5 C#5 A5
So tomorrow I can live like I died yesterday,

Live like I died yesterday

Today a stampede killed Superman
E5 C#5 F#5 A5
And Apollo and Dionysus both got hanged
E5 C#5 F#5 Em
Today the revolution laughed and spit in my face
E5 C#5 F#5 A5
But all-expenses-paid Dada will take its place

Today the dropouts were smarter than the PhDs
E5 F#5 C#5 A5
As they took off with everyone's car without the keys
E5 F#5 C#5 A5
Today I bled failure all the way up to the sky
E5 F#5 C#5 A5
And I grinned hopelessly as I sit down to die,

Em E5
As I sit down to die
