Johnny Hobo And The Freight Trains

Harmony Parking Lot

by Johnny Hobo And The Freight Trains
Johnny Hobo And The Freight Trains

Biography:

Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains were a nihilistic folk-punk band from southern Vermont. They didn't hop freight trains. They did like to drink forties by the train tracks where the police wouldn't bother them. Most shows were a solo acoustic performance, but the full band at various times included Flash-C (trumpet), Ian Skumfuck (washtub bass), Jeff-face (harmonica), Roman (bicycle), Michael Jordan (drums), & Wyatt (harmonica).

The last show was in 2007.

[INTRO] E A E A E A E A

E A
This one's for every drug problem that got stopped in its tracks
B
by a trip to rehab.
E A B
I'll miss railing pills with you in the park.
E A
This one's for every friend who decided not to drop out
B
and stay at their mom's house.
E A B
I'll miss you on the street corner when it starts to get dark.

E B G#m A
Because tonight I'm cryin' about the crack house that got torn down
E B G#m A
in the center of town.
E B G#m A
And tonight I'm laughin' about the army recruitment
E B G#m A
station lying vacant.
E B
Here's to the rubble. A brick through every window,
C#m A
a casket buried six feet deep for everybody's heroes.
E B C#m
Here's to our lives being meaningless. And how beautiful it is because
A
freedom doesn't have a purpose.

E A E A E A E A

E A B
This one's for every arsonist that got locked down before they burnt the

cities down.
E A B
I'll miss seeing the sky scrapers on fire!
E A
This one's for every friend who got taken off the streets so the upper class
B E
could sleep. So the upper class could sleep. I'll miss the spray-paint and
A B
slashed tires.

E B G#m A E
Because tonight I can't smell the pigs around the corner
B G#m A
on the shortness of your breath.
E B G#m A E B
And tonight I can't taste the whiskey from across the room
G#m A
in the stumbling of your steps.
E B C#m
Here's to the rubble. A brick through every window, a casket buried six feet
A E
deep for everybody's heroes.
B C#m
Here's to out lives being meaningless. And how beautiful it is because
A
freedom doesn't have a purpose!
