[Verse]
G Em
To hear your voice to see you smile
Am7 D
To sit and talk to you awhile
G Em
To be together the same old way
Am7 D
That would be our greatest wish today

[Verse]
G Em
To hear you laugh to hear you cry
Am7 D
Or just a chance to say goodbye
G Em
To say the things we didn't say
Am7 D
That would be our greatest wish today

[Chorus]
G Em Am7 D
But all we can do is throw a flower on the water
G Em Am7 D
Look for the sun through the rain
G Em Am7 D
Lay a little frangipani gentle on the water
Am7 G
Remember how we loved you

To comb your hair to lace your shoes

Buy some flowers let you choose

A phone call when you're away
Am7 D
Just to see if you're okay

To hear your voice to see you smile
Am7 D
To sit and talk to you awhile
G Em
To be together the same old way

That would be our greatest wish today

But all we can do is throw a flower on the water
