John Pringle- The Avenue
Capo on 4th fret
C
I bummed a smoke and I drank at a heightened pace
Am
But the bartended just asked for space
F G C
About faced and headed towards the door
C
Raised some hell as I stumbled through the night
Am
Bouncer laid me out with a serious right and said son
F G
Your gonna feel this in the morning
C
But you stepped right in like a divine wind said
Am
what's wrong with you can't you see that I'm with him
F G
Can't you see he's a little out of touch and out of place
C Am
And you grabbed my hand flashed a half cocked grin said boy come with me
F
I got a place on avenue C
G C
We're gonna clean you up and we'll start our journey
Am G C
I said I don't think I like what you're trying to do to me
Am G C
She said boy you have no idea what I have in store for you
Am F
And I forfeit my rights to the rest of my life
C
On the avenue
Am
On the avenue
F
Yea well fate came through
G C
The night I met you on the avenue
Am
On the avenue
F G
Yea well fate came through the night I met you

C
Well you gave me a shot said it'll kill the edge
Am
Took me up to a dangerous spot on an eighth floor ledge
F G
You lit a joint and said let's make love like it's high school
C
And you dropped your close
C Am
We struck rodin's pose I searched my mouth for a beautiful prose
F G C
But all I could say is damn your one fine woman

Am G C
She said I don't think I like what your trying to do to me
Am G C
I said girl you have no idea what I have in store for you
Am F
And we forfeit the rights to the rest of our lives
C
On the avenue
Am
On the avenue
F
Yea well fate came through
G C
The night I met you on the avenue
Am
On the avenue
F G C
Yea well fate came through the night I met you
