Winter wheat.
John k. Samson

[Verse 1]
D
Woke up in a parking lot
G
Air mattresses gone flat
Bm A D G
The sun selecting targets for the shadows to attack
D
So make a visor with your hand
G
Squint at where you're from
Bm A D Em
A lonely line of buildings you can block out with your thumb
A D Bm
Salute the ways
Em D A
we tried

[bridge]
G F#/G Em D (x2)

[Verse 2]
D
And no one knows we're anywhere
G
we're not supposed to be
Bm A D G
So stay a while and watch the wind throw patterns on a field.
D
This crop withstood the months of snow
G
Scavengers and blight
Bm A D Em
Tuned every year towards a tiny lengthening of light
A D Bm
Found a way
Em D A
to rise

[bridge]
G F#/G Em D (x2)

Bm A D G
We know this world is good enough
Bm A D G
because it has to be
Bm A D G
Allow the hope that we will meet
G D
again out in the winter wheat

Bm A D G (x3)

G D
Find me in the winter wheat
