Waitin'
I wrote this song around 1967 when I was a teenager. My mother and I were heavy into country and sang
together often. Attached is a link to the song I recorded in 1967. It is a bit slower than it should be as the
tape stretched a bit. I hope to re-record it soon. For what it is worth, here is the songs link.

John C. Daoust

[Verse 1]
C
Five long years I’m waiting,
G7
waiting for my love to come home to me.
G7
Waiting for the train,
G7
Sittin’ here in vain,
C
Every morning waitin, for the train to come.

[Chorus]
C
The train is so late now,
C
I’m waitin' at the gate now,
F G7 C G7
For my lover to come walkin’ up to me.
C
Waitin’ here in vain now,

Waitin’ for a train to bring a
F G7 C
Dream that vanished with the mornin’dew.

[Verse 2]
C
I’m walking to the station.

Through the fog of early morning hours.

G7
Glistening in the air,

Like the love that’ll be waiting for me there.

but loneliness is crawling up on me.

The train is so late now,
C
I’m waitin' at the gate now,
F G7 C G7
For my lover to come walkin’ up to me.
