Really nice distinctive Joe guitar work similar to his earlier stuff; plus it sure
sounds like Jeff and Ringo backing him up. At A chords at the end of the intro and verse
lines - add Asus4 variations to it. The times shown are elapsed time from the start;
chords by Marty Lurvey.

Intro X2 G / / / D / / / A / / / / / / / 0:14

Verse 1
G D A
Well you know, I was always the first to arrive at the party,
G D A
Ooh... and the last to leave the scene of the crime.
G Bm
Well it started with a couple of beers,
G B
And it went I don't know how many years,
G A D
Like a runaway train headed for the end of the line. 0:47

Verse 2
G D A
Well I finally got around to admit that I might have a problem.
G D A
But I thought it was just too damn big of a mountain to climb.
G Bm
Well I got down on my knees and said "Hey!
G B
I just can't go on living this way!"
G A D
Guess I have to learn to live my life one day at a time. 1:19

Bridge
F - C G - C A D
Oh yeah! One day at a time!
F - C G - C A D
Oh yeah! One day at a time! 1:35

Guitar Solo < over verse chords > 2:06

Verse 3
G D A
Well I finally got around to admit that I was a problem.
G D A
When I used to put the blame on everybody's shoulders but mine.
G Bm
All the friends I used to run with are gone,
G B
Lord, I hadn't planned on livin' this long.
G A D
But I finally learned to live my life one day at a time! 2:54

Coda
G Bm
It was something I was too blind to see,
G B
I got help from something greater than me...
G A D
And today I learned to live my life one day at a time! 3:18
