[Verse]
D F7sus4 D
I was standing at a big hotel,
G
Wishing everybody well,
D A A7
But if anybody paid me any mind it was hard to tell,
D F7sus4 D
A big policeman on his beat,
G D
Pulled his pistol and he pointed at me, looking down the barrel,
A7
I could see the gates of hell,
D
I was Standing At A Big Hotel.

D F7sus4 D
So i went walking down the avenue,
G
Looking for someone that looked like you,
D A A7
But I never saw a face that seemed to ring a bell,
D F7sus4 D
I stopped beside the five and dime,
G
Just window-shopping & wasting time,
D A A7
When along came a gal who sold me all she had to sell,
D
She left me Standing At A Big Hotel.

[Chorus]
A D
I lost my mind in the wilds of Hollywood,
A7 D
I did some time in the shadows where I stood,
A A7 D
I let the cards fall where they fell...
A D
And I found myself Standing At A Big Hotel.

[Verse]
D F7sus4 D
A blind lady with her old tin cup,
G
Had her pencils all sharpened up,
D A A7
She was standing in the door just to see what she could sell,
D F7sus4 D
But nobody bought a thing all night,
G
They just thought she was a pitiful sight,
D A A7
Though the lord helps a girl who helps herself,
D
Standing At A Big Hotel.

D F7sus4 D
Well I know what you're thinking today,
G
I can feel it though I'm miles away,
D A A7
Everybody knows I love my southern belle,
D F7sus4 D
But from the east to the wild, wild west,
G
They say a bird in the hand is best,
D A A7
So here I am with a bird dog and a bottle of muscatel,
D
Standing At A Big Hotel.

[Chorus]
A D
I lost my mind in the wilds of Hollywood,
A7 D
I did some time in the shadows where I stood,
A A7 D
I let the cards fall where they fell...
A D F# G7 F#m7
And I found myself Standing At A Big Hotel,
A D
Yeah I found myself Standing At A Big Hotel.
