[Verse]
F
Do you know why the trees bend,
Dm Bb F
At the West Texas border?

Do you know why they bend,
Gm C
Sway and twine?

The trees bend because of the wind,
Dm Bb F
Across that lonesome border,
F Dm
The trees bend because of the wind,
Gm C F
Almost all the time.

[Chorus]
F Dm Bb F
Have you seen my Caroleen, Up in Amarillo,
F Gm Dm C
Have you seen my Caroleen, The one that I call mine,
F Dm Bb6 F/C
Well, if you see my Caroleen, With her hair of yellow,
F Dm7 Dm Gm C F
If you see my Caroleen, Tell her I'm doing fine.

F Dm Bb F Gm7 C F Dm Bb F/C Dm Gm C F/C

[Verse]
F Dm Bb F
She is to me like the breeze, That blows from Corpus Christi,
F Gm C
She is to me like the breeze, That blows up from the sea,
F/C Dm Bb F
Now if she is like the breeze, That blows from Corpus Christi,
F Dm7 Dm Gm C F/C
Then I must be like the trees, Cause Caroleen blows through me.

[Chorus]
F Dm Bb F/C
Do you know why the trees bend, At the West Texas border?
F Gm C C7
Do you know why they bend, Sway and twine?
F/C
The trees bend because of the wind,
Dm Bb F/C
Across that lonesome border,
F Dm7 Gm C F
The trees bend because of the wind, Almost all the time,
F Dm7 Gm C F
The trees bend because of the wind, Almost all the time.
