Intro: C A7 D7 G C

C G7 C
(Yodel) The Mississippi River Blues

C C7 G
Oh you Mississippi River, with waters so deep and wide,
C G7 C
My thoughts of you keep rising, just like an evening tide.
F C
I'm just like a seagull that's left the sea,
G G7 C
Oh your muddy waters, they keep on callin' me

Bridge:
F
I'm gonna pack my grip and head that way,
C
You'll see me hangin' 'round again someday.
G
'Cos I know that's the only way to lose,
G7 C
The Mississippi River Blues.
C G7 C
(Yodel) The Mississippi River Blues.

C C7 G
I've often ridden on your bosom, from Memphis down to New Orleans,
C G7 C
Dreaming over muddy waters, flowing through familiar scenes.
F C
And when I hear the whistle of an old steam boat,
G G7 C
Down that Mississippi River, again I'm going to float.

Bridge:
F
I'm gonna pack my grip and head that way,
C
You'll see me hangin' 'round again someday.
G
'Cos I know that's the only way to lose,
G7 C
The Mississippi River Blues.
C G7 C
(Yodel) The Mississippi River Blues.
