C G
I once had a lover named Billy McCoy

A7 D7
He lived by the river's big bend

G C G
One warm summer day Billy wandered away

D7 G
He's gone but our love didn't end

C G
They say he went down where the riverboats dock

A7 D7
With nary a cent in his jeans

G C G
A barefooted lad who could sing round the clock

D7 G
And wanted to see New Orleans

C G
Where is my Billy my Billy McCoy

D7 G
Where is the boy of my dreams

C G
Singing this song as the boat rolls along

D7 G Em
Heading for ole New Orleans uhuh

G D7 G
Heading for ole New Orleans

C G
He took his guitar and he sang very well

A7 D7
A riverboat crew heard him there

G C G
They took him aboard on the Big Dixie Bell

D7 G
To sing for his dinner and fare

C G
I pray every night that he misses me so

A7 D7
And after he sees New Orleans

G C G
He'll sing his way home for he loves me I know

D7 G
My barefooted boy in blue jeans

C G
Where is my Billy my Billy McCoy

D7 G
Where is the boy of my dreams

C G
Singing this song as the boat rolls along

D7 G Em
Heading for ole New Orleans uhuh

G D7 G
Heading for ole New Orleans
