by Jets To Brazil
Jets To Brazil

Biography:

Jets to Brazil was an American rock band. It was founded by Blake Schwarzenbach, former frontman of Jawbreaker, who found himself in Brooklyn, New York, after Jawbreaker disbanded. There he united with friend Jeremy Chatelain (who is not to be confused with the French singer of the same name); the two had met at the final Jawbreaker show, Chatelain himself having emerged from the break-up of Handsome.

Verse 1:
A
in the tall grass of a long sun
D
a quiet repast and I'm sweet nothings
A
come hell I'm your lover your

man your friend your fair weather
A
it's a world stopped afternoon
D
passion legs your wordless
A
all blue routes to your birth
D
place chalk white wincing pretty in it

Interlude: A D x2

Verse 2:
A
summer dress your hair's wet
D
and gets into our kisses
A
can you tell why my intentions
D
wind up near misses
A
there's a kindness in your
D
smile but my sky plays fatal music
A
there's the promise and the
D C#m Bm
shell of great beginnings seldom finished

Chorus:
D A C#m
in the laze of a barefoot
D D Dm A
afternoon, oh what's a boy to do?
D A C#m D
Sunday eyes, am I losing you?
D Dm A
is the summer really through?

Verse 3:
A
straps down and overtired
D
if I had a favorite picture
A
I'd call it right now
D
uncertain braced for your disaster
A
summer gown were you sent
D
down to wrestle me to reason
A
I'm a thrown fight in your
D
favor I'll do everything
C#m Bm D
but listen to you now

Chorus 2:
D A C#m D
in the laze of an empty afternoon
D Dm A
it's all happening too soon
D A C#m D
Sunday eyes, am I losing you?
D Dm A
say it isn't true

Brdige:
F#m C#/F E D
in the summer you really know

the summer so much anymore

you somewhere smiling

over me over you over me

Verse 4:
A
summer girl all summer
D
long you know the winter's wrong
A
southbound those motel towns
D
can mend most broken mornings
A
there's citrus groves where
D
noone knows the fruit of truth from evil
A
and a long walk on a short pier
D C#m Bm D
means nothing more than swimming here

Chorus 3:
D A C#m
there's an end but we don't
D D Dm A
get to choose we can only lose
D A C#m D(hold)
if I cried a river just for you
D
would you swim in it
A
some sunny afternoon?

Outro:
F#m C#/F E D
in the summer you'll really know
A C#m D
you're the only summer that
Dm
I think I'll ever know
A D
so I'll keep trying to
A D
find you somewhere smiling
A D
I'll keep trying to
A D
find you smiling
Bm D A Dm A(hold)
for me over you over me
