[Intro]
Em D A Em

[Verse 1]
Em
The spirit / it moved me / it led me / to do these
D A Em
Things that I don't know how to explain

[Verse 2]
Em
A feather / a chalice / an imperfect / balance
D A Em
Waiting to be set against the grain
D A Em
And I'll never have to go back home again

[Chorus]
G D
Take me away / I don't care where I land
Em C
Better on a war horse than in someone else's hands
G D
Thought it was my place / to watch the country bleed
C D Em
Don't know how I became the girl who they believed

[Verse 3]
Em
The saints knew / they told me / what to do / I only
D A Em
Listened well and did the things they asked

[Verse 4]
Em
And time moved / as time does / a flame and / what once was
D A Em
Present quickly moved into the past
D A Em
And I'm certain I was never meant to last

[Chorus]
G D
Take me away / I don't care where I land
Em C
Better on a war horse than in someone else's hands
G D
Thought it was my place / to watch the country bleed
C D Em
Don't know how I became the girl who they believed
C D Em
Don't know how I became the girl who they believed
