Jeffrey Foucault

Cross Of The Flowers

by Jeffrey Foucault
Jeffrey Foucault

Biography:

Jeffrey Foucault (born January 1976 in Janesville, Wisconsin) is an American singer-songwriter grown out of the americana/folk troubadour tradition. Foucault's musical career was seeded at seventeen, when he began playing John Prine tunes on his father's beat up mail-order guitar, and spent long evenings in his bedroom, spinning piles of old records on a hand-me-down turntable. When he was 18 he stole a copy of Townes Van Zandt: Live and Obscure from a friend

Jeffrey Foucault - Cross Of The Flowers

[Intro]
G

[Verse 1]
G
There's a cross of flowers at the roadside
Em
Where some fool bought it two years back
G
There's an orchard gone to hell
Am
Beside a burned out one-room shack
G
And there's a thousand sparrows falling
Em
In a thousand shades of black
G
I'm coming home

[Verse 2]
G
There's a steeple on the skyline
Em
Like a single iron nail
G
There's a windmill doing nothing
Am
And a low moan on the rails
G
Where the coal train takes the corner
Em
And the light begins to fail
G
I'm coming home
Em
I'm coming home

[Verse 3]
G
There's a red barn in the half-light
Em
And a white frost on the shade
G
And in the bars down off the main drag
Am
They're drinking down what they got paid
G
And I wonder in all my leaving
Em
If I ever could have stayed
G
I'm coming home

[Instrumental]
G Em G Am G

[Verse 4]
G
There's a junked out car in the tall grass
Em
It ain't ever gonna sell
G
Jimmy's raising daughters
Am
And Jack's out raising hell
G
And I always said I loved you
Em
I never said I loved you well
G
I'm coming home
C
I'm coming home
G C G
I'm coming home
