Janis Martin

Two Long Years

by Janis Martin
Janis Martin

Biography:

Janis Darlene Martin (March 27, 1940 – September 3, 2007) was an American rockabilly and country singer. With a distinctive country twang to her voice, she was one of the few women performing rockabilly music during the period of the genre's infancy, and a pioneering female innovator on the country music scene. Nicknamed "The Female Elvis" due to her vivacious on-stage dancing, she was the only female rocker given this title who was acknowledged by Elvis Presley himself.

(Chorus)

You never did write, you never did call, you
Bb
can't blame me for getting tired of it all.

found me another boy twice as true.
C F
Then I, just forgot, about yooooooou (dum-doodle-
C
doodle-doodly-doo-dah-daaaa.)

(Verse 1)
F Bb
I'd still be there loving you now, when I thought

F G
But I figured by the way you never did write that I

was just a used-to-be.
F Bb
I'd a-been glad to have you back but I thought you
F

Bb F
And I figured by the way you never did call that you
C F
didn't give a hoot about me.

But you never did write, you never did call, you
Bb
can't blame me for getting tired of it all.
F
I just did what any other girl would do,
F7
found me another boy twice as true.

Then I, just forgot, about yooooooou (dum-doodle-
C F
