Down The Burning Ropes

by James Vincent Mcmorrow
James Vincent Mcmorrow

Biography:

James Vincent McMorrow is an Irish singer-songwriter from Dublin, Ireland. McMorrow began performing under his own name in 2007, releasing an EP entitled The Sparrow and the Wolf in 2008. His debut album, Early in the Morning, was released in February 2010 via Believe Recordings in Ireland. The album's momentum was initially slow, but the use of one of the album's songs on Grey's Anatomy sparked interest in the US and in Europe. The album was released to the rest of the world in March 2011; and charted in the top 30 in Ireland and Norway.

Intro: Am

Am
When the hills let go
Slowly fade into the water like some ancient lover
G
On a ship filled with ghosts
Am
It's something to behold

Am
When the paper thin girls
With twisting little braids in their hair,
G
They take off their coats and throw
Pebbles and stones from the side of the boat,
F
Crying out
G Am
The stones they float, the stones they float
F G Am
Oh my God, the stones they float, the stones they float

Am
Down the burning ropes
Past the places where the steal beams meet concrete skies
G
You make your bed under the moonlight
Am
I think it's time we said goodbye

Am
Cause nothing moves in the warm air
And words that once would cut like a knife,
G
They just hang in the cloud and you're
Pushed by the lord,
F
But you're pulled by the crowds and
G Am
You're overboard, you're overboard
F G Am
Oh my God, she's overboard, she's overboard

Am G F (last two strumming)
My love she's overboard
Am G F (strumming)
She's overboard
Am G F
My love she's over board

Some uuuhs and aaaaahs with Am G F

Am
Not a shell unbroken
In the valley where my heartache and the timbers lay
G
It's not the time to be hanging around here
Am
You know what some might say

Am
That people get too reckless
That even with the simplest of crimes
They leave, blood behind,
G F
As I clean the knife for the very last time
G Am
I think she knows, I think she knows
F G Am
Oh my God, I think she knows, I think she knows

I think she know

Uuuuhs and aAaahhs with Am G F

Enjoy
