[Intro]
Am

[Verse 1]
Am G
Where the street becomes a wall
Em Am
The spectre fell against it
G Am
Without a cry or a wail
Am G
Here in the darkness
Em Am
His black and green will ram
Am G
There's no more lack of conscience
Em Am
That isn't due a plan

[Chorus]
F G Am
Oh, the spectre
F G Am
Oh, the spectre

[Verse 2]
Am G
The spectre had no food
Em Am
The spectre was in guilt
Am G
He had no light, he had no light
Em Am
His shadow overspilled
C G
And 'cross the rugged ranges
Em Am
Of curbs and broken minds
Am G
The spectre wasn't finished
Em F G Am
The spectre was denied

[Chorus]
F G Am
Oh, the spectre
F G Am
Oh, the spectre

[Verse 3]
Am G
Behold the shining silver
Em Am
Of a coin held in your hand
Am G
The spectre isn't greedy
Em Am
He recalls he is a man
C G
While all through the midnight
Em Am
Oppression only cries
Am G
See, oh see the spectre
Em F G Am
Caught for the compromise

[Chorus]
F G Am
Oh, the spectre
F G Am
Oh, the spectre

[End]
Am G
Where the street becomes a wall
Em Am
The spectre fell against it
G Am
Without a cry or a wail
G Am Em Am Em Am
Without a cry or a wail
