Verse 1
Am F D G
I bought you tickets for the waterfalls
E F G Am
And you poured away all the change
Am C F F F F G
Trained your bicycle to dance
Am C F7 Bb
Told it tales of window boxes and people with locks
C D E
While you filed away the time
Ab Bb C D E
And lost the place in the river.
Verse 2
Am F D G
Couldn't do anything about the days
E F G Am
But I helped with some of the nights
Am C F F F F G
You worked my blisters to the bone
Am C F7 Bb
Playing songs of tiny men and bridges in wine
C D E
While you led the time astray
Ab Bb C D E
And lost your head in the rainbow.

Bridge 1 (to 3) G D F

Bridge 2 (to 4) C G Bb F

Verse 3/4
Am F D G
You never saw anything glittering
E F G Am
But you had to melt it down
Am C F F F F G
I made your rivers all run dry
Am C F7 Bb
Soaked them up with train timetables and carpets of lies
C D E
And I listened to your smile,
Ab Bb G A G A G A G A etc to fade
& found my place in the morning.
