CARAMIA (Emily Saliers)
D E
Caramia - a blank notebook and a back pocket fade...
Em
You used to mock me;
G
Sometimes I would cry
C#dim D Gm D
When I was home later.

You hurt my feelings:
B7
Why, why, why?
Em
Write it down in your notebook,
G C#dim D Dsus4 D
My wannabe Harriet the spy.
Bm7
Some say your genius
Em7
Is in your madness;
Dm
Will you get better?
D Dsus4 D
And then will you leave us?
G C#dim
How you mixed with the darkness
D
At such a young age!
Em
Until in your chemistry
G
Science and violence
C#dim D Dsus4 D
Turned silence to rage.

D5 D5/B D5/C# D5
Why... are you dreaming this?
Am Am/B Am/C Asus2
One shoe off, and a bridge to cross over.
D5 D5/B D5/C# D5
And where is your taxi fare?
Am Am/B
Are you left by yourself
Am/C Asus2
Or left by your lover?
D5 D5/B
For three nights straight now
D5/C# D5
I dreamed I kept both of my shoes,
Am Am/B
But I've forgotten my lines, and
Am/C Asus2
I've misplaced my cues;
D D/B
And there's a sea full of faces
D/C#
And a show to go on;
Am Am/B
And I'm struck mute at entrance
Am/C Asus2
With nothing to draw from!

D
There were the secrets: the big bang
E
And the bigger joke.
Em
You seem to know all of them
G C#dim D Gm D
And injustice makes you red with choke.

You love like you're desperate!
B7
You don't know what love is!
Em
I thought if there was one thing I could give you,
C#dim
One thing I could tell you,
D Dsus4 D
Maybe it was this...
Bm7
With your head on the bed board,
Em7
The anguished repeat;
Dm
The sweat of our sadness--
D Dsus 4 D
The twist of the sheets.
G
I don't want what's best for you!
C#dim D
Where would I be if you found it?
Em
I prayed a lot about these bad feelings inside,
G C#dim D Dsus4 D
But I can't pray my way through or around it.

I found a lot of this somewhere else and messed around with it a bit. If you are the
transcriber, please let me know.
