Haley Blais

The Existential Life Of Ants

by Haley Blais
Haley Blais

Biography:

It’s hard not to fall in love with Blais as she expertly puts into song so much of what humans are feeling. Hailing from Vancouver, BC, Haley Blais began her musical career as a solo folk artist. After her debut EP Late Bloomer (2016) was released independently online by demand of her YouTube subscribers, Haley went from single white female yielding ukulele, to five piece band. Let Yourself Go, a 5 track EP, set to be released April 2018, will feature a more mature sound of folk rock and pop.

[Verse]

The icnident with Karen's dog

Em

Still haunts me to this day

I opened up the door to have a smoke

My father he is an actor

And actors they love to cry

Cmaj7 G D

But I never saw him sob on stage like he did when princess Diana died

[Chorus]

Cmaj7

And I know it may feel heavy

G

The weight that you wear on your back

Cmaj7 G

You'll drop it when you're ready

B7 Em

And realize that you don't need that load of all the worry

Cmaj7

And all the things you thought that you can't

G D

And you'll find you relate to the existential life of ants

[Verse]

G

I used to hang out in the garden

Em

till I got allergies

Cmaj7 G D

Now I can't stick my nose in a rose by any other name would smell as sweet

It's been years since I've spoken to Karen

I know that she blames me

Cmaj7 G D

cause I guess that the death the words promised on the carton of the cigarettes wasn't for me

[Chorus]

Cmaj7

And I know it may feel heavy

G

The weight that you wear on your back

Cmaj7 G

You'll drop it when you're ready

B7 Em

And realize that you don't need that load of all the worry

Cmaj7

And all the things you thought that you can't

G D

And you'll find you relate to the existential life of ants

[Bridge]

Cmaj7

cause we're much too small to think at all

About our wage or our status quo

We just carry on one by one

And bow to the queen before we go

G

The weight that you wear on your back

Cmaj7 G

You'll drop it when you're ready

And realize that you don't need that load of all the worry

Cmaj7

And all the things you thought that you can't

G D

And you'll find you relate to the existential life of ants
