Capo 4

Verse 1 -

G
Six in the Morning
C
I look out the window
G
The little black birds
D
They are waiting for me.
G
Waiting to see if I've
C
Changed my opinions
G
To see if I'm
D G
Setting them free

Chorus -

C
To see if today
G
They'll be flying away
Em
Or to see if I'm
C
Holding them down
D
Cause I'm clipping their wings
C
and amongst other things
G D
I'm pinning their wings
C
to the ground
G D
Pinning their wings
C
to the ground

Verse 2 - (G, C, G, D)

G
Sometimes they ignore me
C
or beg and implore me
G
To hold them up higher
D
to look at the sun
G
But I'll keep them covered
C
they'll stay undiscovered
G
Just waiting for
D G
freedom to come

Chorus -

C
To see if today
G
They'll be flying away
Em
Or to see if I'm
C
Holding them down
D
Cause I'm clipping their wings
C
and amongst other things
G D
I'm pinning their wings
C
to the ground
G D
Pinning their wings
C
to the ground

Interlude -

C
I hope that one day
G - Em
I can give them away
Am
'Cause when little black birds

can be turned into words

Well there isn't much reason
D
to stay
