by Have Gun, Will Travel
Have Gun, Will Travel

Biography:

Since the 2008 release of their debut full-length Casting Shadows Tall As Giants, the band has been gaining momentum regionally as well as nationally. The album was featured on NPR’s “Second Stage” program. "Their music has a great energy to it with some infectious, sing-along choruses and refrains." commented NPR host Robin Hilton. At Creative Loafing's 2008 Best of the Bay Awards held in Tampa, HGWT took home the Readers' Poll Award for Best Americana Act and Staff pick for Local CD of the Year.

[Intro]
Em G D C

[Verse]
Em G D C
Nothing changes in a dreary coastal town
Am C G
Something strange is going down, behind the curtain
Em G D C
Ancient secrets hidden somewhere underground
Am C G
Where they're never to be found, can't be certain

Am C G
Hear the warning from a distant drum
Am C D
Something dark and wicked this way down
Em G D C
Crooked stranger, it's this for tonight he brings
Am C G
For each and every living thing within our border

Em G D C
Town officials make their grand and costly plan
Am C G
But our blood is on the hand of every corner
C C G
No one told me, they'd be nice like me
C G D
Spirits dance to, haunted melodies

[Chorus]
Am C Em
Kerosene & Candlelight keep us from the dark of night
Am C Em D
By the flicker of the flame, shine on though the morning light
Am C Em
Casting shadows on the wall, God have mercy on us all
Am C
Cross your fingers and hold your tongue
Em D
For something wicked. This we call
Em G D C Em G D
Na-na, na-na, la-du da-da-dah, na-na, na-na

[Bridge]
Em Em G G Am Am C
Weeds grow through the pavement, here in our home town
Am C G
Where the roots dig deeper down, beneath the surface

[Chorus]
Am C Em
Kerosene & Candlelight keep us from the dark of night
Am C Em D
By the flicker of the flame, shine on though the morning light
Am C Em
Casting shadows on the wall, God have mercy on us all
Am C
Cross your fingers and hold your tongue
Em D
For something wicked. This we call
Em G D C Em G D
Na-na, na-na, la-du da-da-dah, na-na, na-na

[Outro]
Em G D C Em G D
Na-na, na-na, la-du da-da-dah, na-na, na-na
