Guy Forsyth

Calico Girl

by Guy Forsyth
Guy Forsyth

Biography:

It’s been a long and dusty, winding road for Austin singer/songwriter Guy Forsyth that’s lead to a recent surge in praise over his dazzling live shows and his rich Americana roots sound. Forsyth (vocals, acoustic, electric, & slide guitar, harmonica, ukulele, singing saw), along with Will Landin (bass/tuba) and Rob Hooper (drums/Cajon), bring a unique mixture of styles such as folk, rock, country, and Tin Pan Alley to create a sound that’s as heterogeneous, raw and compelling as America itself.

INTRO:
|: Am Dm :|

Am
And she was beautiful as an ambulance at midnight
F
Sweet as a practiced promise
C E7
Hungry as a video arcade

Am
And I was lost as a coyote on Main Street
F
Desperate as the last day of summer
C E7
Runnin' like a dog on a chain

Am
She said I like you, and I said
F
"Well I would like to, too"
C E7
Why don't we get away?

Am F
She took me in and chewed me up
C E7
And said I hope you'll stay

CHORUS:
F
And I holler where will I find her
G
Where will I find her?
C
Where will I find her?
F
Where will I find her?
G
Where will I find her?
C
Where will I find her?
Am
Where?...
E7 Am G C
...will I find my calico girl?
Am G C
Am G C (solo playing on an Am pentatonic)

Am
I keep abreast of the situation
F
And a leg up on the throat of the competition
C E7
And my head in the game

Am
But I tread a little softer when I walk
F
And there's a little bit of poison in my talk
C E7
But the results are the same

Am F
And I've been struggling to put a still point in my head
C E7
As well as someone who could take the blame

Am F
I've been burned but I have healed
C E7
Now I need a new flame

CHORUS:
