The Ballad of Laverne and Captain Flint ('Heartworn Highways' version)

Intro - E F#m E F#m

E F#m
Here comes Martha runnin' down the pier
A D A
Lord it looks like Captain Flint is here
E F#m
You get the bow, I get the stern
A D A
Lord would you look at that Laverne
E B7
Flint's got shrimp from the deep blue sea.
A E F#m E F#m
and buckets of fish for you and me

Chorus

E E6 (shuffle)
But Old Flint's boat is fine and she's called the Miss-Inclined
B7 E F#m
And there's no home port painted on her stern
E E6 (shuffle)
And they say she's like a ghost up and down that Texas coast
B7 E F#m E F#m
But you saw home didn't you Laverne?

E F#m
Daddy says Flint is a weird old bird
A D A
And what's more I have heard
E F#m
That his nets are charmed by a woman who knew
A D A
How to work that Louisiana voo-doo
E B7
Laverne get away from that boat you hear
A E F#m E F#m
your mama don't want you hangin' round here

Chorus
