Intro: Bb - F (x4)

Bb F
Smoke it flies from whisky mouths / vagabonds walk this suitcase town
Bb F
summer left us beckoning / the cottonwoods were all worn out
Bb F
night comes fixing on the day / and the universe reigned again
Dm F Bb Dm
while the wheels roll, to find a flickering light

Bb F C Gm
While you were sleeping i was the turning the dials
Bb F C Gm
and i walled up your kingdom with radio wires
Bb F C Gm
and the bells of the choir came in low and rumbling
Bb
..aw, you should-a heard them...

Instrumental: Bb - F (x2)

Bb F
Living here in this city on fire, well i’ve been fine
Bb F
just dancing drunk above the street / me the ghost of caroline
Bb
and that was me, ya know, calling up above /
F
from the steeples in the church yard
Dm F Bb Gm
watch the wheels roll to find another place home

Bb F C Gm
While you were sleeping, you bet that i might
Bb F C Gm
walk this empty northern hemisphere wide
Bb F C Gm
and the kingdom it came, well it all fell down
Bb
it all fell to dust / and it all fell...

Dm Bb C C (x6)

Bb F C Gm
While you were sleeping i was the turning the dials
Bb F C Gm Bb
walk this empty northern hemisphere wide...

[end]
