by Greg Brown
from If I had known Essentia recordings 1980-1996

capo 5th fret

[Intro]
D G D

[Chorus]
D
In the worrisome years, over the hills
G D
I thought it's supposed to get easier, to pay your bills
G D
I got nothing to show, but a worrisome heart
D A7 G D
Can ya please tell me, when does the good part start?

[Verse 1]
D
I done like they told me, I done like I should
G D
Ever since I started, just trying to make good
G D
trying to make a good life, for my family
D A7 G D
but I can't buy none of that stuff the kids want from TV

[Chorus]
D
In the worrisome years, over the hills
G D
I thought it's supposed to get easier, to pay your bills
G D
I got nothing to show, but a worrisome heart
D A7 G D
Can ya please tell me, when does the good part start?

[Verse 2]
D
I think about leaving, but where would I go?
G D
How would I get there? I don't know
G D
I took my stand here, I don't want to roam
D A7 G D
This old town ain't much, but it's all I know of home

[Chorus]
D
In the worrisome years, over the hills
G D
I thought it's supposed to get easier, to pay your bills
G D
I got nothing to show, but a worrisome heart
D A7 G D
Can ya please tell me, when does the good part start?

[Verse 3]
D
I look at Cheryl, she looks at me
G D
We don't talk no more, about our dreams
G D
We don't have no fun, the way we used to do
D A7 G
Don't be disappointed in me baby,
D
I ain't disappointed in you

[Chorus]
D
It’s just the worrisome years, over the hills
G D
I thought it's supposed to get easier, to pay your bills
G D
I got nothing to show, but a worrisome heart
D A7 G D
Can ya please tell me, when does the good part start?
G D G D
When does the good part start, hey when does the good part start
G D
Umm umm umm, when does the good part start?
