ROOTY TOOT TOOT FOR THE MOON
Greg Brown

[Verse 1]
G
The whole kit'in caboodle is in disrepair
C
There's nowhere to go that's not here
D
All the captains and cuckoos from here to Timbuktu
G C D
Are counting their dough in the mirror
D G
Are counting their dough in the mirror

[Chorus]

G
Singing rooty toot toot for the moon
C
It’s the biggest star I've ever seen
D
It's a pearl of wisdom, a slice of green cheese
G C D G
And it's Burning just like Kerosene, and it's burning just like Kerosene

[Verse 2]
G
He was just a young white kid trying to sing black and tough
C
with gravel and spit on his voice
D
He laughed at the songs we sang, the radio laughed too
G C D
And we lift up our arms and rejoiced
D G
And we lift up our arms and rejoiced

[Chorus]

G
Singing rooty toot toot for the moon
C
It’s the biggest star I've ever seen
D
It's a pearl of wisdom, a slice of green cheese
G C D G
And it's Burning just like Kerosene, and it's burning just like Kerosene

[Verse 3]
G
So God bless motorcycles and all those far out trifles
C
You know you can't memorize Zen
D
Hang your hat on your nose don't hide in your clothes
G C D
Smile at someone, begin to begin
D G
Smile at someone, begin to begin

[Chorus]

G
Singing rooty toot toot for the moon
C
It’s the biggest star I've ever seen
D
It's a pearl of wisdom, a slice of green cheese
G C D G
And it's Burning just like Kerosene, and it's burning just like Kerosene
