Gram Parsons

Biography:

Gram Parsons (November 5, 1946 – September 19, 1973) was an American singer, songwriter, guitarist and pianist born Ingram Cecil Connor, III. A solo artist as well as a member of The International Submarine Band, The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers, he is best known for a series of recordings which anticipate the country rock of the 1970s and the alt-country movement that began in the 80s. C Dm G C (x2)

Dm G C
It was forty of fifty years ago, a big shot played with time
Dm G C
Mr Walker held the dough and both kept Cord in line
F Em G C
Watched and cheked on every single day
Dm G C
Buildig his own special cars his very special way
F G C
Oooooh, Oooooh, the new soft shoe
Dm F C
Oooooh, the new soft shoe
Dm G C
And then walking through a Southern mall I saw a shoeshine stand
Dm G C
A man was talking to a crowd holding slippers in his hand
F Em G C F
Don't you know the same thing happens each and every day?
Dm F G C
Did you ever hear a song that's hard to even play?
F G C
Oooooh, Oooooh, the new soft shoe
Dm F C
Oooooh, the new soft shoe

C Dm G C (x2)
F Em G C F
Dm F G C C

Dm G C
Then a colour TV broadcast snuck in from New Orleans
Dm G C
Showed me one more man who spoke and wore bright blue and green
F Em G C F
When you saw him talk his way was when he showed his claws
Dm F G C
Spoke to people every day just to get applause
F G C
Oooooh, Oooooh, the new soft shoe
Dm F C
Oooooh, the new soft shoe
F G C
Oooooh, Oooooh, the new soft shoe
Dm F C
Oooooh, the new soft shoe
