Watch The Moon Come Down

by Graham Parker
Graham Parker

Biography:

Graham Parker (born November 18, 1950 in London) is a British rock singer and songwriter. He continues to be best-known as the leader (and singer) of the popular British band Graham Parker & the Rumour, though he has has a number of solo albums to his name. Despite moderate commercial success, he has consistently been hailed by critics as one the most prominent musicians of his generation, with his wittily-heated, often class-conscious lyrics and energy-fueled music preceding the arrival punk rock and new wave music.

In this dirty town there's nothing going for me
G C
No shows going down that I would want to see
G Em C
Nothing but the midnight tra----in

G C
Women take their sheets down to the laundromat
G Em C
And as the night falls on this to-----wn

G C
As the workmen walk home, reflected in the car chrome
G C
Splashing through the gutters and the sand
G C
The birds move in the rafters Hearing echoes of the laughter
G C
From children in a playground close at hand

D Bm
And hands inside my pockets, Staring at the light sockets

Everyone's been blown out Everyone's been thrown out
C
I said baby baby baby baby baby

G C
If I stay out all night Test the midnight train's headlights
G C
Follow the tracks beyond sight to the bend
G
Now who've I got to let down, Tell me somebody with their head down
G C D Bm
Bargin' into solid ground in the end In the end, yeah in the end
