Grace Carter

Saving Grace

by Grace Carter
Grace Carter

Biography:

Grace Carter was born in 1997 in London and raised in Hove, UK. She grew up listening to the likes of Lauryn Hill and Nina Simone, which is evident in her powerful songwriting, which shows emotional and musical maturity. She began songwriting during her school days, and at the age of fourteen was already performing her own material in public. One year later, Grace had converted her bedroom into a makeshift recording studio and when she reached Music College she taught herself the piano by watching YouTube videos.

[Intro]

A C#m B G#m

[Verse 1]

A C#m
I was reaching for some other love
B G#m
And I'm sorry for making things so tough
A C#m
You were the only one that I could touch
B G#m
The only one, the only one close enough

[Pre-Chorus]
A C#m
When the tears rolled down my face
B
He turned and walked away
G#m
And you held me, oh, you helped me through
A C#m
As tears rolled down my face
B
He turned and walked away
G#m
When he acted in bad faith

[Chorus]
Em C#m
You told me not to hold hands with the devil
B A
You warned me that I'd lose my faith
Em C#m
I never thought I'd leave my heaven
B A
But now I know you're my saving grace
Em C#m
And all we've been through is giving us truth
B A
And now I can never be without you
Em C#m
You told me not to hold hands with the devil
B A
'Cause the devil does no good

[Verse 2]
A C#m
I was reaching for another love
B G#m
But you were the only one that I could trust
A C#m
I shouldn't held my breath and bit my tongue
B A
I never meant to be so rough

[Pre-Chorus]
A C#m
'Cause when the tears rolled down my face
B
He turned and walked away
G#m
And you held me, oh, you helped me through
A C#m
As tears rolled down my face
B
He turned and walked away
G#m
When he acted in bad faith

[Chorus]
Em C#m
You told me not to hold hands with the devil
B A
You warned me that I'd lose my faith
Em C#m
I never thought I'd leave my heaven
B A
But now I know you're my saving grace
Em C#m
And all we've been through is giving us truth
B A
And now I can never be without you
Em C#m
You told me not to hold hands with the devil
B A
'Cause the devil does no good

[Bridge]

Em C#m B A
'Cause the devil does no good
A C#m
When the tears rolled down my face
B
He turned and walked away
G#m
When he acted in bad faith

[Chorus]
Em C#m
You told me not to hold hands with the devil
B A
You warned me that I'd lose my faith
Em C#m
I never thought I'd leave my heaven
B A
But now I know you're my saving grace
Em C#m
And all we've been through is giving us truth
B A
And now I can never be without you
Em C#m
You told me not to hold hands with the devil
