Goody Grace

Memories

by Goody Grace
Goody Grace

Biography:

From the northern suburbs of Winnipeg, singer/songwriter Goody Grace combines his love of hip-hop and acoustic guitar into a style influenced as much by Wiz Khalifa and Gucci Mane as Bob Dylan and Morrissey. While still in his teens, he rode a series of increasingly successful singles to a major-label deal that yielded the 2018 EP Infinite, which featured his hit collaboration with gnash, "Two Shots."
Born in Selkirk, the Canadian artist sings, raps, and plays guitar.

Well, I remember, drivin' around
C# D A E
Tryna think of each and every way that I could maybe get my ass up out this town

I used to tell my momma "stop with the yelling, a normal job isn't why I'm in this world"

[Pre- Chorus: Goody Grace]
C# D
And I remember coming home at night hoping I don't smell like smoke
A E
Telling my momma "don't worry, one day we ain't gonna be broke"
C# D
I'ma pay the bills with these six strings, just watch me
A E
And now I'm on a roll and nobody can stop me

[Chorus: Goody Grace & Jesse Rutherford]
C#
Well, I was so low
D A E
But now I'm high in California
C#
Well, I was so low
D A E
But now I'm gettin' high in California
C# D A
Well, I was so low, low, low, low, low (I was so low)
E C#

I was born in California with a woman and the weather too hot (oh)
C# D
Yeah, I've got a little but I'm really itchin' for a whole lot (yeah)
A E
But when you start tearing it up they start rippin' you off
C# D
I hear what they say (I hear it) and I know what they do (I do)
A E
Yeah, they call up on you (brrt) and they say that you're cool (ay)
C# D
So you give 'em your best, yeah, and they go and they flex, yeah
A E
But I just smoke it off when I get back to the west side

[Chorus: Goody Grace & Jesse Rutherford]
C#
Well, I was so low
D A E
But now I'm high in California
C#
Well, I was so low
D A E
But now I'm gettin' high in California
(Too many paths, got too many paths)
C# D A
Well, I was so low, low, low, low, low (I was so low)
(Too many paths, hope they remember me)
E C#
But now I (yeah)
D
Well, now I'm gettin' high in California
