Gaelic Storm

The Space Race

by Gaelic Storm
Gaelic Storm

Biography:

Gaelic Storm is a highly-acclaimed Celtic band. Their music ranges from traditional Irish and Scottish music to original tunes, in both the Celtic traditions. Gaelic Storm's origins can be traced back to 1996, when Patrick Murphy and Steve Wehmeyer joined with Steve Twigger and Uillean piper Brian Walsh to perform at O'Brien's Irish Pub and Restaurant in Santa Monica, California, of which Murphy was the manager. This led to a number of pub performances for the next year.

G C
Well I wonder why it is
Em D
that we have rascals rogues and losers
G C Em D
We've got roustabouts rapscallions and a bucket load of boozers
C G D
We've got balladeers and blowhards of all sorts
C
We've got poets priests and pirates
D G
but we have no astronauts

G D G
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (x3) oh, oh, oh, oh,
G D
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (just listen to the song, it makes sense, trust me)

G
They say there was a space race
D G
if there was I think I missed it
G
From the earth up to the moon and back,
D G
doesn't that take the biscuit
D
Well I wouldn't mind a little ride in zero gravity
C D
as long as they could promise I'd be home in time for tea

[[chorus]]
C D
I've got me two good legs if I wanna take a trip,
C D
I've got no use for a rocket ship
C
I'll walk if you don't mind
D
It's how I always get around
Em D
I might be staring at the stars
C G
but I keep both feet on the ground
G D
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
G
both feet on the ground
G D
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
G
I've got both feet on the ground
G D G G D
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

G
There's a great big giant vacuum
D G
up there in the sky
G
Ah but where's the place to plug it in
D G
I think it's all a lie
D
I've heard of Halley's Comet, And I'll tell you what I think
C D
It's just a kind of chemical for cleaning out the sink

[[chorus]]

G
We've got no use for Sputnik
D G
We've got sponge to go around
G
And you'll never see the shuttle land
D G
on the streets of Newlyn Town
D
Well in the fields of "Vatimbly" there's not a launching pad in sight
C D
We've got no "Mersa voyageurs" and we turned out all right
